American Red Cross Has Busy Weekend for House Fires

The American Red Cross was called to assist in 5 separate house fires throughout southern Minnesota this past weekend. 15 people living in homes in Winona, Lewiston, Kenyon, Rushmore and Henderson were all displaced by fires over the holiday weekend. No one was injured in any of the fires.

Red Cross volunteers were at each site to assist the individuals with their emergency needs, including lodging, clothing and food.

All Red Cross disaster assistance is provided free of charge, and relies on the generosity of the American people.

About the American Red Cross:

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation's blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization — not a government agency — and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
