Memorial Day is upon us and it's time to honor our fallen soldiers.
A federal holiday recognized by the state of Minnesota, city government will take the day off—Northfield City Hall, the Northfield Liquor Store and the Northfield Public Library are all closed.
The United States Post Office and Northfield Public Schools are also closed Monday.
Many private businesses are traditionally closed on Memorial Day, so be sure to check our business listings to get their phone number and call before you head out.
The Northfield Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Memorial Day service kicks off at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the Northfield Area Veterans Memorial Park at Riverside Lions Park. The event kicks of with acoustic music, followed by speakers, a ceremony and music from the Northfield High School band.
