PHOTOS: Evening Rain Does Not Dampen Busy Thursday in Downtown

Northfield residents were treated to a number of events, including Crazy Daze, Taste of Northfield and Wear Purple for Maggie Lee Day.

A powerful early-evening rainstorm failed to dampen the excitement of a busy day in downtown Northfield on Thursday.

The storm struck as ceremonies for —to honor the lifetime Northfield advocate and former  managing editor, columnist, reporter and just about everything else—were wrapping up and the entertainment portion of the  was ready to kick off.

But after a short delay, the band Area 51 started its performance on the city's showmobile stage, and Northfield eateries served food and beverages to those residents in attendance.

The Taste of Northfield ended a crazy day of activity in Northfield that started at 7 a.m. with the annual Crazy Daze bargain-shopping event.
