Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

TJ Heinricy is Northfield Patch's Person of the Year

Heinricy received 41 percent of the vote.

TJ Heinricy is Northfield Patch’s 2012 Person of the Year.

After nearly two weeks of voting in a poll on Patch, Heinricy received 41 percent of the vote (49 votes) from community members. In order to vote on the poll, a user had to be logged into Northfield Patch. If the person wasn't logged into the site when he or she voted, the vote did not count.

Heinricy was one of eight names submitted when Patch asked readers to nominate people they thought were worthy of the honor, which were to based on their contributions to the community in the past year. On the line was a story about the chosen person’s giving spirit. As the top vote getter, Heinricy isn’t receiving an award, gift certificate or anything to that nature—just a little recognition.

Heinricy is the city's streets and parks supervisor, a Northfield Fire and Rescue captain, and is on the Defeat of Jesse James Days committee. In June, Heinricy received the "Making a Difference" award from the Northfield Healthy Community Initiative for his ongoing support of youth in their efforts to build a permanent skateboard park.

Virginia Kaczmarek, the executive director of the Northfield Area YMCA, came in second with 29 percent of the vote.

No one else received more than 9 percent of the vote.

Look for a story soon that highlights Heinricy’s contributions to the community.

As for the other nominees, their efforts shouldn't go unnoticed, so be sure to thank them if you bump into them around Northfield.

Here is how the votes broke down:

Sandi Gerdes 2
T.J. Heinricy 49
