UPDATED: Sears, Kmart Stores to Close; Fate of Dundas Locations Unknown

Between 100 and 120 Sears and Kmart stores are slated to close.

UPDATED: 11:15 a.m. Tuesday

Between 100 and 120 Sears and Kmart stores are expected to close after poor sales during the holiday season, a time in which most businesses make up the gap toward profitability, the Associated Press reports.

It's unknown which of the 4,000 Sears and Kmart stores in the United States and Canada are slated to close.

Dundas is home to both a Sears and a Kmart.

A public relations official with the Sears Holdings Corporation, parent company of Sears and Kmart, told Northfield Patch that an internal memo identified only six Kmarts so far for shuttering. Dundas was not on the list, she said. The status of the Sears is unknown.

Fashion Bug, which is connected to the Kmart in Dundas, is slated to close at year's end after declining sales.
