A few days ago I was driving by the Post Office Annex on the south end of Northfield and saw two adult Wild Turkeys and 10 or more young turkeys, which, from what I found online, are called poults at birth and then are known as jennies or hens (female) or jakes (male).

It's the first time I've seen young turkeys, so it was a neat find. Unfortunately, I didn't have my good camera with me and had to settle for these shots.

Birdwatchers, have you ever seen a gang of turkeys in this area before?

And for those wondering, no, this isn't the first time I've featured fowl on Patch. Last year, I snapped a shot of two ducks hanging out between Caribou Coffee and Subway.

I've seen turkeys on Dundas Blvd near the compost site and the old Ryt Way building on more than one occasion.

I hope people leave them be. So pretty! As it is all the deer around here have either left or have been killed by cars. I haven't seen one in over a year where we live and there used to be about 5 or 6.
