Current troop members of the Girls Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys and Girl Scout alumni were among those taking part in the event. Mingling among visitors were scouts dressed in uniforms from the 1940s through early 1970s.

The celebration marked the opening of the historical society’s newest exhibit, “Northfield Girl Scouts—Then and Now,” which runs through mid-August.

Featured in the display, says the historical society, are “personal stories and memorabilia from Northfield women who have participated in the all-girl organization throughout the years. Dating back to 1919, Northfield Girls Scouts has a collection of interesting adventures and stories to share, from camping at Bridge Square in the 1960s to earning top awards and providing important services to our community.”
