The sign tells the story in front of Northfield Yarn, 314 Division St., Saturday morning.

Northfield Yarn conducted its grand opening Saturday morning, evidently an event long anticipated by local knitters.

Within an hour of owner Cynthia Gilbertson unlocking the doors to her Division Street business, the store was filled with shoppers.

Residents attending the grand opening were treated to music from a harpist, the aroma of floral arrangements sent by well-wishers, balloons, coffee and doughnut holes.

Lines quickly formed at the sales counter, with shoppers purchasing countless shades of yarn and accessories.

Are they going to have knitting for brand-new knitters that aren't even sure which end of the needle is up?

When we've got the class schedule ready it will be posted in the window and on www.northfieldyarn.com. There will be a Beginning Knitting class on the schedule for sure!
