Last month, Maj. Jeffrey S. Peterson flew over Afghanistan with six American flags.

On Friday, those flags were raised at each school in the Northfield district.

Peterson, of Northfield, has four children in the district and in September contacted district administrators to see if they were interested in receiving the flags, an honor dating back years.

The district was on board and Northfield's American Legion Post 84 and donated flags to be flown to Afghanistan.

On Veteran's Day, Peterson took the flags up in the air and flew over Afghanistan.

Northfield Patch captured the ceremony at Northfield Middle School where one of Peterson's sons, Alexander, attends.

It was a pleasure to be there and I'm glad others get a chance to see such a wonderful event.
