Northfield Chamber Selects New Executive Director
The Northfield Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors announced today that it has named Mary Schmelzer as executive director of the organization.
The Northfield Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors announced today that it has named Mary Schmelzer as executive director of the organization. She will take the helm beginning June 18, replacing longtime executive director Kathy Feldbrugge who resigned the position in late April.
A resident of Northfield, Schmelzer has been involved in the local business community for several years. She serves on the Northfield Enterprise Center board of directors, operates Vivus Architecture + Design with her business partner/husband, and serves the community through various volunteer activities.
Northfield Area Chamber of Commerce Board President Richard Estenson said, “We are delighted to have Mary Schmelzer on board. I’m confident she will do an excellent job as the Chamber’s new executive director. Her experience in marketing, communications and small business management will help enhance the business climate throughout the Northfield and Dundas area.”
Schmelzer said that one of the Chamber’s goals is to enhance collaborations in the community with city officials, other business organizations and civic leaders throughout Northfield and Dundas. Schmelzer commented, “I’m excited to move forward with this new opportunity. I will be working hard to get to know our Chamber membership and hear our members’ concerns and visionary opportunities for the future.”
Working closely with Chamber members, Schmelzer is committed to providing benefits to the business community and to enhance economic development in the area. The Chamber will continue to provide networking opportunities, workshops and seminars, and greater public awareness.
The Northfield Area Chamber of Commerce is a dynamic business organization that promotes the Northfield area and the local business community.
