Nine candidates on Monday will make their case to the Northfield City Council as to why they should be selected for the council.
A vacancy has been created with Councilor Kris Vohs stepping down at the end of the year. The candidate selected will serve as an at-large councilor from Jan. 1, 2012 through Dec. 31, 2012. The seat is up for election in 2012.
Attached to this post is a PDF with the candidates' answers to: "Please summaraize why you are interested in the appointment" and "Please list your education, training and/or experience that is relevant to the appointment."
Candidates are, in alphabetical order:
- Thomas J. Bisel
- David DeLong
- Jon Denison
- Joe Gasior
- Charles Michael Hayes
- David Ludescher
- Sean Daniel Hayford Oleary
- Ivan Imm
- Don McGee
According to the city, each interview is scheduled for 15 minutes. Candidates will get one minute for an opening statement, followed by a question and answer session. Questions will be determined and asked by each individual Council member as time permits.
Candidates will wait in another room as each gets interviewed by the Council. The interviews are open to the public.
The Council agreed by consensus to a straw poll with each Council member listing three names on paper to narrow down the field of candidates. This will be followed by a Council discussion of the top candidates.
A decision on a new councilor could come Monday night, though councilors may select to postpone a decision until Tuesday's Council meeting.
