GALLERY: Northfield Celebrates Maggie Lee's 90th Birthday

Folks gathered together Sunday night to honor the woman who has had a hand in area news for nearly 70 years.

Friends and fans alike gathered together Sunday night to and to celebrate her 90 years of life, 67 of which have been spent as a Northfield News staffer.

Folks gathered at the and later at to celebrate her accomplishments and her many contributions to the community, which include being a founding member of the Historical Society, helping shape the city's Riverwalk and, in 2009, being named the recipient of the Joseph Lee Heywood Distinguised Service Award.

Though her birthday was in January, the opportunity to celebrate her 90th year doubled as a fundraiser for the Historical Society. Tickets to go to the Grand and take in several musical acts were $10, with all proceeds going to the Historical Society's capital campaign for renovations, a fitting fundraiser for a woman who helped shape—and now recall—so much of Northfield's history.
